I heard mixed reviews about this place but I really enjoyed it! The place was pretty packed but we were seated quickly. I ordered the lion's roll and it was amazing! 10/10. I also ordered two glasses of plum wine because the first glass was so delicious. The service was okay... not the best but not the worst. I would definitely return just for those 2 items and the lovely view of Alameda beach :) I'm not sure what my date ordered but they weren't a big fan of it... 7/10.
Friendly & quick phone order for to-go dinner. Large portions. Sushi rice soft & delicious.
I went here with family for brunch, we ordered a ton of dishes, but service was fast and we received them all fairly quickly. I got the Cherry Blossom and Spicy Tuna, and although they were visually appealing and fresh, the tuna wasn't spicy at all, and the sushi in general lacked flavor. We ordered matcha ice cream and mochi ice cream for dessert, the mochi was delicious but the matcha left an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall we had a nice experience, plus the restaurant has a great view, it's located right next to a beach.
I went here with my coworkers for the first time since I was a kid! We ordered A LOT of food, so I wasn't able to get a photo of it all. The food was delicious! I love absolutely everything we ordered, minus the vegetable tempura, which was nothing special. We ordered the Oregon, cherry blossom, Philadelphia roll, lion king, ichiban, A's, samurai, and Webster roll! In addition to that we also got grilled squid, oysters, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura & moriawase. The fish here is fresh and delicious! I was shocked by the size of the rolls when they were brought out to us. They really don't skimp on the fish here! I loved how unique some of the rolls were, you won't find them elsewhere. Nothing beats fresh sushi and a beautiful view of the ocean. My only issue is with the service. I understand that it's busy, but throughout our time there the servers looked annoyed every time we flagged them down for something. We had to ask multiple times for water refills and napkins. They were not friendly and impatient when it came to taking our orders.
Been going to this restaurant for years since I was a little kid. We typically always get the Lion King and the California Deluxe--salmon is so fall-apart-in-your-mouth tender and the mayo sauce is fantastic. The CA Deluxe is always a classic and eel is decently large and fresh. Island roll wasn't as crispy as I expected, but good flavors and portions. Nothing too special with the California roll All the rolls are quite pricey, but you do leave feeling mildly stuffed
If you like sushi rolls, this is the spot for you. Service was slower than I'd anticipated, seeing as there wasn't many patrons. Ambiance is clean with nice decor. Sushi rolls were bigger than the usual. This was my first time here and won't be the last. *Get the bay scallop roll if you don't eat raw fish & like a lot of sauce *Get the marine boy roll if you enjoy raw fish with variety
Wow, it has been a long time since I have done a review for Sushi House. Looking at all the dates from my pictures, it looks like we come here a few times a year, every year. Quality/Quantity - We just got the following makis to-go today. Tuna - Good, but small in size...? See previous year's pictures and compare. Spicy Tuna - Too mild of flavor. Not spicy at all. Hamachi - Best of the makis; glad we got two orders! Spicy Scallop - Good. Again, I would prefer it to have been spicier. At least this had some spice, unlike the spicy tuna. Salmon Maki - Good. Again in the past, they were larger sizes. Compare pictures. Atmosphere - Indoor and sheltered/heated outdoor dining. Good sunset views if you come at the right time and seated at the right table. You have the option of table or sushi bar seating. They also have 2 indoor TVs in the dining room which plays sports when available. There used to be TVs in the lobby when people had to wait an hour for a table. Restroom maintenance - Ummm, someone needs to follow up on this program, see picture. The good news was that the mens restroom was fine. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm. Limited mall parking. So limited that the Big 5 is still complaining, not that I can blame them... See picture. When the car wash is closed, you should check out the "creative" parking everyone does, including me. Service - Today had perfect service! Glad I am finally able to bump them up to 4 stars. The picture of the hostess is the person who deserves all the credit. She was kind, efficient and accommodating. Thank you. Good ambassador for Sushi House. Yelp wait list; on your phone or on their kiosk tablet. They ask that you still check in with the hostess. Price - $54, the price keeps increasing, but that is everywhere... Still reasonable for what we got. As light eaters, we actually could have ordered two less makis. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1998 and since 2005 at this location. Glad I have seen an improvement for service.
This spot has been around for AGES and I'm just now getting around to trying it when visiting my friend in Alameda :D IMHO a solid choice for budget sushi if you're just looking for quantity-- with the sheer size of their dishes, you'll easily eat your fill with only 2 rolls. We ended our double date here. As a walk-in party of 4 (on a weekend!), we only waited around 10 mins before seating, even when the entire restaurant seemed to be full. Service was attentive and friendly. ORANGE BLOSSOM ROLL: SO much fish. These are huge. Not fishy at all (albeit not the freshest ever), decently balanced flavors. SAMURAI: If the Orange Blossom was huge, this is gargantuan. Trying to eat this was a balancing act, with the toppings perched precariously above layers of fish. A lot of sauce TBH but still tasty. I can imagine that locals are upset at potential quality decreases/price hikes (hence 3 stars), but as someone who tried Sushi House for the first time in 2024, I thought it wasn't too bad ._. YMMV
